Please review the requirements below in detail. Refunds will not be made for filmmakers who submit films that are ineligible.

•All feature and short films must have been completed by or after September 1, 2018. If production took place prior to that date but your film was not completed until 2019, the project is still eligible for submission up until the late deadline.

• Categories include: US Fiction, Documentary, World Fiction, US Documentary, and World Documentary, US Short, and World Short Film competitions.

• Any feature films that have had commercial theatrical distribution, television, or internet play in the US are ineligible for entry into competition.

• Feature films in a language other than English

MUST BE SUBTITLED IN ENGLISH for Festival consideration and presentation.

• Please observe the running time frames for your submission:

• Feature ­length Fiction and Documentary Films (more than 50 minutes)

• Short films (less than 26 minutes)

• High school shorts (less than 20 minutes)

• Movies ­Made ­on ­Mobil must be a minimum of 1 minute in length and a maximum of 5 mins.

• For submission purposes, films may be works ­in­progress, but we strongly advise that you submit your project as close to final­ cut as possible. Temporary color, soundtracks, score or digital outputs are acceptable.

• Filmmakers must deliver final format (as indicated in the “Screening Requirements” section below) for Festival screenings. No exceptions will be permitted.

• High school shorts must be works shot, directed and produced by high school or secondary (pre­-college) students. Adult supervision must be limited to an advisory capacity.

Award Qualification

Selection to the EAST•NORTHEAST International Film Festival qualifies films for award nominations:

‘The Edison’ award is named after Thomas Alva Edison. This jury award is given to one filmmaker in each of the following categories for their outstanding work.

  • The Mickey Spillane Award ("The Mickey") Best Screenplay

  • The William S. Hart Award (Best Actor & Best Actress)

Feature films must have a total running time of 50 minutes or more. Shorts 30 minutes or less.

Screening Requirements

If your film is selected for exhibition, please be advised that the Festival will require:

• For feature ­length films, shorts, music videos and episodic series: DCP (must be DCI compliant)

• Quicktime files (Native Resolution, using Pro­Res 422 Codec) on hard drive, or DCP (must be DCI compliant).

• Digital press kits with photo stills (color and black/white)

• Head shots of director(s)

• One sentence synopsis of film; 150 word synopsis of film.

• Trailers, clip reels, posters, postcards and electronic press kit.
